A Power Prompter Alternative That Follows Your Voice

One reason is voice following. Power Prompter scrolls at a speed you set, paces the script to a target runtime or steps through it line by line, and you drive it with the keyboard, mouse, clickers, pedals, controllers or its iPhone remote; voice-activated scrolling isn't among its listed features. If you present alone and would rather the text wait while you pause, a prompter that listens to you changes how a take feels.

Another is platform. Power Prompter runs only on the Mac. Its free iPhone and iPad app is a remote, and an iPad can show the prompter as a wireless Sidecar display while a Mac runs it, but there is no iPhone or iPad teleprompter. If you read from an iPhone on a tripod or an iPad with no Mac driving it, you need a teleprompter that runs there on its own, with the same scripts.

Teleprompter Premium+ covers the core of a multi-display setup on the Mac: a full-screen prompter on each extra display, text that stays line-for-line in sync with the operator's screen whatever the monitor's size, and mirroring horizontally, vertically or both, set per display for beam splitter glass. Presentation clickers, foot pedals, page turners and Bluetooth keyboards work too (Plus): they pair as a keyboard and their keys play and pause, jump a paragraph, restart or change the speed. You can also set a fixed speed, or have the script finish in a set time from 15 seconds to 10 minutes.

Auto mode (Plus) follows your voice with Apple's speech recognition: pause to ad-lib and the text waits, speak again and it moves on. Power Prompter can float a transparent window over a call too; Teleprompter Premium+ adds a strip docked right under the MacBook camera (Plus) and a Ghost Mode that drops the background entirely, so only the text sits over your call or screen recording.

Power Prompter has a built-in recorder as well, and leaves editing to other apps; the difference is what happens to each take. In Teleprompter Premium+, switch to Video and the Mac becomes the camera, with the script under the lens: the built-in camera, a USB webcam or an iPhone through Continuity Camera. Each take is kept next to its script, and with Plus you can burn AI captions into the export and drop the watermark free exports carry. The same scripts sync over iCloud to your iPhone and iPad with Plus.

Open a script on the Mac, then open Remote Control on an iPhone or iPad on the same network. The Mac shows up on its own, and after a one-time four-digit check the two reconnect by themselves. Beyond play, pause and speed, the iPhone or iPad can switch between Auto, Fixed and Timed, pick another script from the library and start a recording, and an Apple Watch paired with that iPhone works as a remote too. Remote control is part of Plus.

Scripts can also come from someone else: a producer or brand writes the script in the free editor on this site and shares one link. The reader opens it and taps Open in the app, and the script lands in Teleprompter Premium+ ready to read.

Power Prompter remains a strong choice if you only prompt on a Mac and want to try every feature free for 30 days before buying a one-time licence. It also supports rich text with bold and coloured words and bookmarks, hardware controllers such as the Contour ShuttleXpress, Griffin PowerMate and game controllers, pacing in words per minute or line by line, a remote app that also connects over Bluetooth, and Macs running macOS 12 or 13 (12.4 or later for the App Store version), and its App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected. Teleprompter Premium+ needs macOS 14 or later.

Moving over is simple: save your scripts from Power Prompter as text, RTF or Word (.docx) and import them into Teleprompter Premium+. Word files import on the Mac; text and RTF work on every device. They arrive as plain text: bold or coloured words and bookmarks don't carry over, and Teleprompter Premium+ styles the whole script (font, size, spacing and colours, with Plus) rather than single words.
