Teleprompter Premium+ vs Power Prompter
Two native Mac teleprompters that both run synced prompters across several displays. Here's where each one is the better choice.
Power Prompter, by Suborbital, has been a Mac teleprompter since 2016. It covers solo creators and studio rigs alike, with many synced prompter windows, support for beam splitter hoods and a long list of hardware controllers. Teleprompter Premium+ is one app across iPhone, iPad and Mac, with an Apple Watch remote, a script that can follow your voice, a floating prompter under the camera, and video recording with takes.
Both apps now cover the core of a multi-display rig: a full-screen prompter on each extra display, text that stays line-for-line in sync on every screen, and horizontal, vertical or both-axis mirroring set per display. In Teleprompter Premium+ that is part of Plus. The differences are in how the script moves, where else you can use it, and what happens after you record.

Choose Power Prompter if
- You only prompt on a Mac and want to try every feature free for 30 days before buying a one-time licence with free updates.
- Your studio runs on hardware controllers such as a Contour ShuttleXpress, a Griffin PowerMate or a game controller.
- You need rich text in the script: bold or coloured words and bookmarks you jump to during a show.
- You need precise pacing tools: speed in words per minute, a target runtime the app paces the script to (within speed limits you set), or line-by-line stepping.
- Your Mac runs macOS 12 or 13.
- You want an app whose App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected.
Choose Teleprompter Premium+ if
Voice following, iCloud sync, remote control from another device and AI captions are part of Plus.
- You want the script to follow your voice: pause to ad-lib and the text waits, speak again and it moves on.
- You move between iPhone, iPad and Mac and want the same scripts on each, with an Apple Watch as a remote.
- You record on the Mac and want takes kept next to their script, with AI captions burned into the export.
- You read over video calls or screen recordings and want the prompter docked as a strip right under the MacBook camera, or with no background at all in Ghost Mode.
- Your iPhone is the remote and should do more than play, pause and set the speed: switch scripts, change the scroll mode and start a recording.
- Someone else writes your scripts: they share a link from this site, you tap Open in the app, and the script lands in Teleprompter Premium+.
Moving scripts between them
Power Prompter saves scripts as plain text, RTF and Word. Teleprompter Premium+ imports text and RTF on every device and Word on the Mac. Scripts arrive as plain text, so bold, colours and bookmarks need redoing. Going the other way, Teleprompter Premium+ has no script file export: copy the text and paste it into Power Prompter on the Mac.

Frequently asked questions
- Does Power Prompter scroll with your voice?
- Voice-following scrolling isn't listed on Power Prompter's feature page, App Store listing or manual. It scrolls at a speed you set or to a target runtime, and you drive it with the keyboard, mouse, remotes, clickers or controllers. Teleprompter Premium+ can follow your voice in Auto mode (Plus), or scroll at a fixed speed or finish in a set time of up to 10 minutes.
- Can both apps run a beam splitter hood and a second monitor at the same time?
- Yes. Each can put a full-screen prompter on the other connected displays, mirror it horizontally, vertically or both for the glass, and keep the text in sync line for line with the operator's screen. In Teleprompter Premium+ the extra displays and mirroring are part of Plus.
- Do both apps record video on the Mac?
- Yes. Power Prompter's built-in recorder saves each recording as a file named after the script, ready for iMovie or another editor. Teleprompter Premium+ keeps each take next to its script and saves to a folder or to Photos; with Plus it can burn AI captions into the exported video and drop the watermark that free exports carry.
- Can I move my scripts from Power Prompter?
- Yes. Save them from Power Prompter as text, RTF or Word and import them into Teleprompter Premium+: all three work on the Mac, and text and RTF also work on iPhone and iPad. They arrive as plain text, so restyle them in the app.
